"Run, Rabbitt, Run" 22" 100% cotton bandana. This piece was designed for the Queer Ecology Hanky Project in 2019.
I was born in Indiana, raised in Florida, and have spent years searching for a place I can safely call home. I've only been able to be out, proud, and gain access to trans-inclusive healthcare since 2016, given Washington state protects against gender identity discrimination in the workplace (most states don't). It reads "rabbitt" like a surname, and "rabbitts" are folks who enjoy being tied up, as also indicated by the grey hanky color, especially if worn in the right back pocket. The imaginary fauna are based on the Banyan trees I recall from my childhood visits to the Edison Estate in SW Florida. Their growth can be massive and destructive if not tamed and contained (much like the rabbit population).
