Pinecone ID Riso Print
Pinecone ID Riso Print
This is an 11” x 17” two color riso print, printed with kelley green and orange on a cream paper. All pinecone illustrations are from original graphite drawings made from personally collected specimens!
Each cone drawing took an average of 5 hours to draw, which puts this poster over 200 hours in the making!
These are all from trees native to the Cascadian bioregion (Pacific Northwest).
Riso printing is one of the most sustainable printing methods out there. Riso has its own unique color pigments made with a non-toxic, veggie base. The screen in the machine which burns the image is a rice based cellulose and cannot be printed with coated paper. Because each color layer goes on separately, some slight misregistration is expected- makes every print unique! It is best to keep riso prints out of direct sunlight as the colors are not lightfast.
